The carrier Three UK (3 store) has finally enabled baked-in Wi-Fi calling into the iPhone.
Good news for iPhone users and Three UK’s customers, they are now able to make and receive calls and texts from anywhere without having to download the company’s separate InTouch application. To be able to access this feature, customers only need a Wi-Fi connection. This is only true for users that are customers of the Three UK Store and that have in their possession an iPhone launched after 2014 (so iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE and iPhone 7,).
If you are Three’s customer and you use an iPhone, be sure to have the latest version of the software which is IOS 10.2 and the latest carrier software packaged installed.
The upgrade of the carrier software is not always automatic so if you want to upgrade your version, go to your Setting > Phone > Wi-Fi calling, and switch on “Wi-Fi calling on this iPhone”.
Once activated, every time you will be connected to a Wi-Fi network, the Three Wi-Fi call will be available. It will allow you to call even when you don’t get the phone signal and to enjoy a higher call quality than using a than using a 4G connection.
This new service seems to be only available in the UK for now. Three UK is not the only carrier in the UK to offer this service, Vodafone and EE also enable it to their customers.
