According to a survey published by Rotten Wi-Fi in early December, Lithuania comes in first place as the country providing the best public Wi-Fi hotspot service.
Out of the 184 nations that the report focused on to establish the top 20 countries for public WiFi in 2015, Lithuania is the nation with the best public Wi-Fi service. Based on the three categories measured, Lithuania’s leading speed and quality of service for public hotspots was determined by its high average upload speed, its average download speed and its average client satisfaction rank.
Despite the domination of European countries in the public wireless Internet market according to the Rotten Wi-Fi report, the Asian region dominated the list of the Top 20 countries placing in 2 out of the top 3 rankings. Lithuania’s average upload speed of 15.1 Mbps was by far the best upload speed of the top 20 countries, followed by Singapore in second place with an average of 11.4 Mbps. Regarding the average download speed category, Lithuania’s 16.1 Mbps also placed this Eastern European country in first place in this category, followed closely behind in rank by Estonia and Singapore, taking second and third place respectively, with similar Mbps download speeds. European countries such as Switzerland, The Netherlands and the UK also followed in 4th, 5th and 6th place, with only a couple of Mbps less on average per download.
Lastly, with a 5 out of 10 average in the client satisfaction category, Lithuania’s rank was the same more than half of the Top 20 nations in this statistic, including some of the aforementioned countries both in Europe and Asia, as well as other nations that were not mentioned previously, like Denmark, Ireland and Belgium. 5 out of 10 was the highest ranking achieved by this category, and developed countries like The Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and Canada ranked on average a 4 out of 10 in client satisfaction.
